The Professional Development Programme allows individuals or small groups to take time out from their work routine and benefit from the provision of an environment and access to facilities that will enable them to enhance their professional skills and capabilities.

The Programme is designed to provide tailor-made, specialist study and training. The ethos of the programme is one of self-directed learning.  The programme planning therefore begins with the prospective participants who will indicate their broad or specific interests, and expected achievements from their time spent with us. Based on this, a tutor will be assigned to prepare, with the visiting professional, a more detailed programme.  The detail may be worked out in advance or on arrival of the participant in the School.

The individual programme might include a core of guided reading, participation in ongoing seminars or lecture series, personal seminar sessions with the tutor or other relevant individuals, visits to specialist organizations, and support for the preparation of a document to be drafted or completed.  If agreed, the tutor can also prepare assignments to be completed. The participant may wish to give a seminar on their programme before they leave and this can also be arranged.
