The International Development Department (IDD)Â is a global community, with students from over 30 different countries, dedicated to converting academic excellence into practical contributions to development and poverty reduction at local, national and international level. Training Provider: University of Birmingham Studying for a doctorate with IDD means being part of an active research and practitioner community that will support you in accomplishing your academic goals. All students studying for a doctoral degree pursue their own original research, under the guidance of a supervisor. This freedom is often attractive to people planning a career in academic or training institutions or who aim to work in policy planning units of public sector agencies. Each student is assigned a supervisor and is also supported by two other academic staff members as co-supervisors. Students are assigned their own study space and computer in the department. However each course allows the choice of optional modules, giving students the ability to customise their chosen course further. From 2006 we are offering a greater choice of MScs and an MA. (IDD, University of Birmingham) Training Provider: University of Birmingham IDD has designed its Graduate Diploma programmes to meet the requirements of every prospective or current employee in the development sector. However each course allows the choice of optional modules, giving students the ability to customise their chosen course further. From 2006-7 we are offerering nine Graduate Diploma programmes. The Graduate Diploma provides entry for applicants without the required qualifications for the direct entry onto a Masters Course. Graduate Diploma students, who consistently perform well, may be transferred to the Masters programme and proceed to complete a dissertation withing the same academic year.
