In Summer 2005 the views of 21,000 students were canvassed about going out, shopping, transport, community and facilities in UK towns and cities.

The survey, conducted by Accommodation for Students found Norwich rated in the national Top 10 when it comes to quality of life.

The University of East Anglia has been rated one of the UK's top ten for student satisfaction according to the first ever National Student Survey (published 22 September 2005). The Times Higher Education Supplement article on the Survey has ranked UEA fifth overall. Detailed results from the Survey are available on the Teaching Quality Information website

The University of East Anglia rose from 20th to 16th in the Sunday Times league table published on 2 October 2005 and was on a short-list of five as the paper's 'university of the year'.

UEA is the most effective research university in the country according to a table published in Research Fortnight (29 September 2005) based on Higher Education Statistics Agency data analysed by Evidence Ltd.
