Using Social Transfers to Improve Human Development |

According to a new research report from the UK Department for
International Development says social transfers - that is, regular and
predictable grants to households - can have significant positive
effects on human development for the poor, and particularly on health
and education, even when the grants are not specifically targeted to
those sectors. In other words, one of the most immediate and effective
remedies for poverty is money.
